The Role
We're seeking talented Backend Developers at Junior, Medior, and Senior levels to join our network of developers working on robust server-side applications and APIs for our European clients. You'll work remotely from home in the Philippines with the flexibility to visit our Davao office when needed for collaboration or team events.
You'll be working with various backend technologies to build scalable, secure server-side systems and APIs across diverse industries. Whether you're augmenting a client's existing team or working on dedicated project delivery, this role offers the opportunity to expand your skills while working with international teams.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining server-side applications, APIs, and backend services. Your work will involve collaborating closely with frontend developers, product teams, and DevOps to deliver complete solutions, designing and implementing RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints, and writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code that follows best practices. You'll work with databases to design schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity, integrate third-party services and APIs, implement authentication, authorization, and security measures, and participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables. You'll also troubleshoot and debug complex backend issues and contribute to technical discussions to help shape architectural decisions.
What We're Looking For
We're hiring at multiple experience levels. Here's what we're looking for at each:
Junior Backend Developer (0-2 years experience)
Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (PHP, Node.js, Python, Java, or Go)
Understanding of backend development fundamentals and web technologies
Basic knowledge of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
Familiarity with RESTful API concepts
Understanding of version control with Git
Knowledge of basic data structures and algorithms
Willingness to learn and grow with mentorship
Strong problem-solving attitude and eagerness to tackle challenges
Medior Backend Developer (2-5 years experience)
Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (PHP, Node.js, Python, Java, or Go)
Proven experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs
Solid understanding of database design, SQL, and ORM frameworks
Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, etc.)
Knowledge of caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) and message queues
Understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines
Comfortable with Git workflows and collaborative development
Ability to work independently on features with minimal supervision
Experience working in an agile environment
Senior Backend Developer (5+ years experience)
Expert-level proficiency in multiple backend programming languages and frameworks
Deep understanding of system architecture, scalability, and distributed systems
Extensive experience designing and implementing complex backend systems and APIs
Proven track record of optimizing application performance and scalability
Strong knowledge of database optimization, indexing strategies, and query tuning
Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and message brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
Expertise in security best practices and implementing secure systems
Experience mentoring junior developers and conducting code reviews
Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools
Ability to lead technical discussions and make architectural decisions
Experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure as code
All Levels: Strong English communication skills are required as you'll be working with international teams. We value developers who are self-motivated, take ownership of their work, and are passionate about staying current with backend development trends and technologies.
Nice to Have
Experience with specific frameworks (Laravel, Express, Django, Spring Boot, etc.), knowledge of GraphQL and modern API design patterns, familiarity with serverless architectures and functions-as-a-service, experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration, knowledge of testing practices (unit, integration, end-to-end), understanding of SOLID principles and clean architecture, experience with real-time systems (WebSockets, Server-Sent Events), contributions to open-source projects, familiarity with multiple database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.), and experience working with distributed teams across different time zones would all be valuable additions to your profile.
